Introducing: The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition
Just in time for your summer holidays, we’re excited to announce the Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition. Our second collaboration with Aquastar will be available in the Fratello Shop for pre-order from July 19th at 16:00 CEST until July 26th at 16:00 CEST. We’ve paired another beautiful and unusual colored dial with this fantastic design, and we’re confident that you’ll love wearing it!
I’m thrilled to announce that, once again, we’ve teamed up with Aquastar to create a jaw-droppingly gorgeous watch. The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition is a watch that will appeal to a wide audience. As you’ll see in videos and photos, the dial is a chameleon with multiple personalities.
Our first collaboration with Aquastar led to a second
When the original Deepstar II first debuted in late 2021, we were such huge fans that we wanted to put our spin on this eminently wearable diver. We quickly reached out to Rick Marei, the leader of Aquastar, and began discussing a project. In February this year, we were honored to become Aquastar’s first collaborative partner when we jointly released the ice-blue Deepstar II Limited Edition. The lighter, cooler dial worked so perfectly with the Deepstar II design, but would people enjoy it as much as we did? Well, we made just 50 of those watches, and they sold within minutes. Along with the positive feedback, we also received our fair share of concerns from those who missed out on the small run of pieces. We’ve been listening…
After the strong success of our first Deepstar II, we huddled together with Rick to discuss a follow-up project using what we learned from our first venture. We wanted something slightly different and even pondered using other Aquastar models as a basis. However, our love affair with the Deepstar II hasn’t subsided, so why not choose it again? We drew inspiration from the fact that this 36.75mm diver works so well on all wrist sizes, so why not make it even more attractive for both men and women?
The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon
Discussions with Rick evolved, and we agreed upon ordering samples of a dial with hints of pink and salmon combined with bright white Super-LumiNova. Would such a dial work? Our team awaited the prototypes anxiously, and when they arrived, it was unanimous; we knew that we had a winning formula on our hands. The new Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition was born. We think you’ll concur that it’s a fresh look for a diver. Plus, it doesn’t sacrifice any of the usability and readability that we’ve come to enjoy on the Deeptstar II.
When it comes to dive watches, there is no shortage of options with black, blue, or gray dials. The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition flips the script on this and shows that something truly different can be done with the right foundation. In fact, we think that such a color wouldn’t work on most divers, but the jewel-like details of the Deepstar II allow for bold opportunities.
A dial that changes
The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition has a dial that takes on multiple hues. In some lights, the sunray effect mixes with the light, bringing a stronger pink tone. In others, there’s salmon. Do you spot gray? Hold it just right, and I reckon that a bit of champagne enters the picture. As an enthusiast who enjoys vintage Aquastar watches with a dose of patina, I liken the traits of this dial to those examples that have taken on some wildly vivid shades over time.
You’ll notice that compared to our last Aquastar collaboration, the new Pink Salmon Limited Edition keeps the black running seconds hand within its “big-eye” sub-dial at 9 o’clock. We’ve also opted for black printed details throughout the dial that ensure contrast and maximum legibility. As mentioned, we’ve also kept away from using aged Super-LumiNova and have chosen a bright white to highlight all the sharp details.
At home on the beach and in the office
One look at the Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition shows that it’s the perfect color for summer. Don’t mistake it for a one-trick pony, though. This isn’t solely a beach watch. With its included 19mm beads-of-rice bracelet, it’s wonderfully versatile and upscale. Whether gracing a tanned wrist or peering out from under the cuff of a white or blue dress shirt, the Deepstar II is a watch that is at ease in all situations. I’ve often mentioned that when I travel for business, a Deepstar II is my lone accompanier, and I’ve never felt ill-equipped.
The specs are a winning combination
Thankfully, the specifications of the Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition remain consistent with our last collaboration. This means a 316L stainless case measuring 36.75mm in diameter with a 46mm lug-to-lug and a 13mm thickness, including the crystal. The robust Sellita SW290-1 movement is back again, and the date stop has been eliminated. Additionally, the watch has a bidirectional external bezel, a signed screw-down crown, and domed sapphire crystal with an antireflective coating. Finally, this watch is water resistant to 200 meters, making it suitable for practically all activities.
The Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition — availability for one week
There’s great news on the Fratello × Aquastar Deepstar II Pink Salmon Limited Edition. This time, we will offer an ordering window only in the Fratello Shop from July 19th at 16:00 CEST until July 26th at 16:00 CEST. This means that everyone who orders will receive their Deepstar II. After the window closes, no additional Pink Salmon-dialed watches will be produced. We aim to deliver the first pieces within three weeks of the pre-order window closing. The price will be €1,950 (excluding VAT). I hope you enjoy this new Aquastar as much as we do. We think it’s a unique offering based on one of our favorite dive watches. Most of all, we’ve designed it with everyone in mind.
